The frontline face of youth leadership: your future

The frontline face of youth leadership: your future

The more progressive, innovative, and confident your network is, the more career opportunities you will have. But where do you start, and how do you find these networks? We spoke with Alexandra Robinson, Global executive, and Eva Dutory, Elected Global President, from AISEC, to answer this question.

Imagine the global changes that a 70-year-old organisation has seen… Established after WWII in 1948, AISEC was created by seven talented individuals who wanted to help develop cross-cultural understanding across the world. They dedicated themselves to this cause by creating international internship and collaborative opportunities. They still do that to this day, and that’s why the CEO for One Month programme is proud to work with them.

In the face of global adversity, AISEC is here to empower you. Their motto is ‘Activating Youth Leadership Since 1948’, and they’re here to help you lead in the world of work.

Carpe diem

All global leaders practice this mantra. Let’s also look at the statistics. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, it was estimated there would be around 231 million young people not in education, training, or employment by 2021. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity.

Welcome to the ‘CEO for One Month’ Programme and AISEC. The new normal is here, and it’s up to you to shape it.

1) Reflect – We are all thought leaders. Use a technique called mental contrasting. Elon Musk is a master of this. Begin with your desired professional future outcome – your ideal – then combine it with practicality. Connecting these two visualisations can help us all to develop our progressive mindsets.

2) Set a goal – Everyone has been affected by the pandemic in different ways. But as the world recovers, employers will be asking you what new skills you learnt. What project(s) did you work on? Set a goal, complete it, and bring this to your next meeting. Additional ideas and initiatives can be found on the AIESEC website.

3) Continue to attend the ‘CEO for One Month’ Webinar series – If you’ve missed previous webinars, they’re available here.

This is one of the most exciting times in human history for future leaders, and this is your invitation to join our networks. If you want to move forwards, we’re ready to work with you!
